The Expansion of Distributed Generation in Brazil: Technology, Market, and Regulation in a Changing Landscape

Carlos Dornellas é engenheiro eletricista e especialista em mercados de energia e transição energética, com mais de 30 anos de atuação no setor elétrico no Brasil e no exterior. É fundador da ALMA SOLAR Energia e foi Diretor Técnico e Regulatório da ABSOLAR. Atuou como executivo na CCEE, Duke Energy e CEPEL, com forte experiência em regulação, comercialização e planejamento energético. Atualmente coordena o Comitê C5 - Mercados de Eletricidade e Regulação do CIGRE-Brasil e participa de iniciativas internacionais sobre inovação, armazenamento e integração de energias renováveis.

Markus Vlasits has over 12 years' experience in the PV solar energy sector, holding a range of executive positions. From 2007 to 2009, he served as Director of Crystallisation and Wafering Production at Q.Cells SE in Thalheim, Germany, before being promoted to Vice President of Sales Operations. He has been active in the Brazilian PV market since 2013, initially as Executive Director of Yingli Green Energy do Brasil. In 2016, he co-founded Faro Energy, an investment company focusing on PV generation projects for commercial clients, where he served as Commercial Director until 2018. In 2019, he worked as an independent consultant and contributed to the creation of the Energy Storage Working Group at the Brazilian PV Solar Energy Association (ABSOLAR). In 2020, he founded NewCharge, an engineering and development company specialising in energy storage projects. NewCharge delivers storage solutions for commercial clients in Brazil and provides consultancy and technical advisory services for energy storage initiatives. In August 2023, he was elected President of the Board of Directors of Brazilian Association of Energy Storage Solutions (ABSAE). He also organises and participates in events and conferences dedicated to energy storage, and recently acted as co-organiser of the energy storage panels at The Smarter E South America / Intersolar South America 2021 Conference. Prior to his work in the PV and energy storage sectors, he was a consultant at McKinsey & Company in Germany.

Jonas Becker é formado em Engenharia de Produção pela Universidade de Fortaleza. Ele é o Presidente da Câmara Setorial de Energia do Ceará, Coordenador estadual e membro do Conselho fiscal da Associação Brasileira de Energia Solar (ABSOLAR) e Diretor financeiro do Sindicato das Indústrias de Energia e de Serviços do Setor Elétrico do Estado do Ceará (SINDIENERGIA). Jonas Becker faz parte da diretoria do Grupo Colibri Capital e é o fundador da Eco Soluções em Energia e atualmente é CEO da geradora E1 Energia.
